How to take care of your fur coat

Good care keeps the fur coat beautiful and lengthens it life.

A fur coat swelters by excessive heat, so you should not store it near radiators or in hot places.

If the fur coat is wet, shake it immediately upon coming indoors. Let the fur coat dry by itself on a correctly-shaped hanger at normal room temperature. If the hair is flattened, shake the fur coat again when it is dry.

Frost is the best weather for a fur coat. Air your fur coat well but do not leave it in sunlight for a long time.

In the summer, store the fur coat in a cool, dark and well-ventilated place. Textile is the best protective material for furs.

When buying a coat with fur lining, it is important that you choose the right size. The coat must be sufficiently roomy to provide warmth and to prevent wear.

When you are sitting down, lift the hem of the coat a little and open the clasps and buttons. Safety belts and car seats made of artificial fibres wear a fur coat. In a car, a fur coat retains its shape best when you keep it in your lap.

Hard seams in jeans, belt buckles and straps of shoulder bags can damage the fur quickly.

If the fur has become tangled, you can comb it with a metal dog comb. Clothes made of artificial fibres create static electricity in subzero temperatures. In order to prevent this, you can wipe the inner fabric lining of a fur coat lightly with a sponge moistened in fabric softener.

It is recommended that you have your fur coat cleaned regularly. In this way, dust and other potential impurities can be removed from the underfur. This brings out the guard hair beautifully.

Even small repairs should be carried out immediately.
